LaJolla Shores is the easiest - look for teh large guard tower and head out due west until you're about teh end of teh pier - this will place you over teh canyon - watch your depth as you descend - if you hit 80 feet, go back East until you see the canyon rim.

Another favorite is in front of Marine Room - generally sandy with a few rocky patches - watch for leopard shark spawning and teh always present rays and flat fishes.

LaJolla Cove can be nice, but watch for swells from the north - thye can really piund teh beach there (a guard station is at the top; check with them). Your efforts will be rewarded by a very nice reef system with generally good vis.

All spots are 'no take', as they are in the marine sanctuary.

LaJolla has a few little places to eat; don't remember the names offhand, but the Mexican place is good in LaJolla shores area.
