We've been there twice. Truk is a scary place - on land. The young men are aggressive and make it clear that they don't want you there. They have extreme problems with alcohol, violence, rape, etc. The best option is a liveaboard. If you must go land based, the Blue Lagoon grounds are limited to guests and staff only. The Truk Stop is on the main road near town. Enough said.
BTW - a group is going in January on the Odyssey and has openings. Take the "nospam." out of my email address.
