The trick to avoiding rough seas is to live in a state of constant readiness, then GO when the weather is good~!

the outer islands and offshore banks have been accessable from a small vessel a min of 20 weekends a year for the last 20 or so years. Southern California has the mildest seas on the entire west coast.

Elaine is right about getting there and it being great... There is always a place out from the weather, particularliy at Catalina and SCI. i'm convinced the safest way to enjoy* consistant quality time on the water is to always be prepared for 3 nights, plan for 2 nights, and posess the fortitude to come home after 1 night if things change for the worse...

:)
