One of the strangest, and coolest things I've seen underwater was hail at Lake Tahoe. There was a huge hailstorm, complete with plenty of lightning just as we were getting into our wetsuits. We dived anyway and were treated to a barrage of hail shooting through the surface and down a foot or so. It looked just like it does in the movies when bullets fly at James Bond while he holds his breath for five minutes, swimming in a tuxedo.
