Together with a pouch weight belt (AnyWater Sports and Aquarius on the Wharf each sells the most modern pouch weight belts available in Northern Calif) and with 14 lbs of lead (two 4s and two 3s), I can dive very comfortably either with scuba or freediving in tropical warm waters.

For freediving, for me, my weighting is normally 8 bls. For scuba with the aluminum tanks that the boats in the tropics normally carry, I simply add another 4 lbs. The pouches and the soft weight bags normally work perfectly for splitting up the weights right and left, and toward the front, for perfect trim.

The hard un-coated lead weights that the boats provide are uncomfortable.

Therefore I do bring my own weights with me, yes.

If you have "too much" weight for the various flights, you simply need to pay more. It is worth it to me.
