I get all kinds of dive related spam besides the standard porn, drugs, loan, and phishing schemes. The first dive related spam I got was years ago from Rodales. I have filters on my server that block most of the messages, they block about one spam message every 3 seconds. However a few still get through to my email.
Harvesting emails for spam is unethical, spaming, as is buying any product or service from a spam message.
My biggest problem now is bbs (log) spam attacks. There are bots that attempt to post spam messages on this BBS everyday, sometimes several thousand. It has crashed the server twice. I have since added filters to prevent it, but it still happens everyday. Dealing with it is just one of the “joys” of running a web site and server.
