I consider myself an envronmentalist, but I recognise that what the environmentalists are doing there is cheap blackmail. They know that the area around the power plant is very healthy. I have dove very close to Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant and it is lush around there.

In the last chapter of this story, the environmentalists want Edison to make an artificial reef, but they want it done at a distance from the power plant, because the reef there is healthy.

Hopefully it all becomes moot. It seems a new technology is coming on line for using the cooling saltwater to make fresh water. I'm not perfectly clear on the process, but you put the water plant next to the power plant and you can use the warmed discharge water to make fresh water as a byproduct. It is economical and we can use that.

Still, some environmentalists are not much more honest than some of the politicians we have.
