We did our first dives on Sunday morning at Ship Rock - that is where we encountered him. We were live boat diving. That is a great way to do ship rock - sight see all you want - no worries about where the boat is. Then we did Bird Rock - at least four other dive boats were at bird rock. Then we did Sea Fan Grotto. I'm going to put up a trip report later in the week. The diving conditions were great!
