VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. Officials are searching for possible suspects in the theft of an 80-foot charter boat from the Santa Barbara Harbor that ended up at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The boat was found this morning smashed against the base shore, beneath cliffs on the south side of the base, not far from the space launch facility.

Vandenberg spokeswoman Rebecca Danet (duh-NAY') says authorities searched the base and found a trail leading to train tracks, but the trail then appeared to continue off-base.

The boat, stolen late Tuesday night, ran into two vessels on its way out of the harbor. One sunk, but Coast Guard officials kept the other afloat.

Boat owner Dana Fritzler says she has no idea who would have stolen the boat.
