I wasn't sure exactly what this was.

I found it in "Guide to Marine Invertebrates" Alaska to Baja California by Daniel Gotshall. It is a "Pink-Mouth Hydroid" - scientific name Tubularia crocea. It frequently grows in shallow water on dock pilings, rocks and boat bottoms. It is a preferred food source of some aeolid nudibranchs.
