If I am at Malaga or Leo, real shallows, I don't use one, or if I am diving with well known buddies, I leave it on the beach.
But I also take pics, and we tend to be ummm, not the best buddies. I use a 13 slung as a stage. Any inconvenience using it is outweighed by the knowledge it is there.
13 is easy to travel with, and I've brought it to a bunch of overseas destinations without a hitch
