DIR is about utterly wasting an indordinate time fiddling endlessly with various equipment types, colors, shapes, sizes, materials and equipment placements, then endlessly arguing about what equipment meets a vague criteria for acceptance by the "enlightened" illuminati, and if you're lucky, you may even have time left to get in the water with it all, much less actually do something so distracting from the "DIR approved" dive plan as actually look around and visually enjoy anything other then how black your new DIR jet fins are and hoping the DIR enforcers don't notice your 2nd stage hose is 3/4" of an inch shorter then what is "DIR approved".
