We’re perking right along. The Encore, pacific Star, Psalty, and Second Stage are already full, and the Great Escape is close. You pay $85 for the day (all the proceeds go to the Chamber) and choose the boat you want to go on. (Book early because once a boat fills, it’s unavailable. Although we’ll hold a reservation for you for 72 hours, after that time, spots are only guaranteed when they are paid in full.) This year, all the boats are doing food-and-air-included so we’ll also collect $20 from you for that (making the total tab $105). There will be an free on-board raffle on the way over to Catalina. You’ll also get a commemorative Chamber Day 2005 t-shirt, five raffle tickets (you’re encouraged to buy more on your boat or at the Chamber), and you’ll make two dives at Catalina.

Sometime during the day, your boat will stop at our Catalina Chamber in Big Fisherman’s Cove. You’ll all disembark for a 75-minute overview of Chamber operations. L.A. County Lifeguards will explain their job, rescue helicopters and crews from the Coast Guard and Sheriffs will be on hand, and the Chamber crew will show you the Chamber itself, including taking you inside and pressurizing the Chamber to a depth of 1-foot. (Yes, you’ll have to clear your ears. It’s really weird and we can’t explain it logically.)

Here’s where we are right now on the boats (along with whether they’re sponsored or open):

Aquatica (Douglas Dive Club, Dive N Surf, Sea Sabres) - About half full
Bottom Scratcher (Open) - About 20 spots available
Cee Ray (Reef Seekers) - Half full
Encore (Open) - FULL
Flying Dutchman (Open) - Quite available
Great Escape (Open) - Only 2 spots left
Island Time (Sport Chalet) - About half full
Magician (Sport Chalet) - Available
Mr. C (CA Wreck Divers, Rod Francis) - About 5 spots left
Pacific Star (Scuba Schools of America) - FULL
Psalty V (Scuba Schools of America) - FULL
Sea Bass (Aqua Adventures Dive Club) - About 6 spots available
Second Stage (Pacific Wilderness Dive Club) - FULL
Sundiver (Ocean Adventures) - About 15 spots available
