I recently needed a Mares reg serviced and was told by an OC dive shop owner that no one in Orange County services Mares other than Sport Chalet. Skeptic that I can be I did a search to learn whether that was true. It was NOT TRUE.
While some shops don't service Mares, many others do. It pays to call around and talk to the service tech. Their attitude about one brand over another can help you make a decision about whom to trust with your life support system.
I've also heard that while parts had been difficult to get for Mares products, that either has changed or is changing. The tech I used had no problems getting parts and was happy to service my regulator.
