Rounding should be done in one step:
1609.34721869444 rounded to three decimal places is
1609.347, not 1609.344.
And some of the iterative roundings you did were wrong.
The first one is correct, but:
1609.3472187 rounded to five decimal places is 1609.34722, not 1609.34723.
1609.34723 rounded to three decimal places is 1609.347, not 1609.344.
