Plankton Blooms are common in Spring, but we are also experiencing a red tide. With the water temps in the 50s, I don't expect to see many people in the water in bathing suits. The warmest it gets in SoCal is low 70s in the late Summer. Age has a lot to do with getting in the water as well. When I was a kid, we used to play in the water at Huntington, Hermosa and Redondo Beaches for hours in swim trunks. Now I freeze if I'm in a wetsuit. :-)
