Can't help you with diving recommendations, but can at least tell you how envious we all are! What an opportunity! I keep kicking myself when I hear about how great the diving is in parts of Indonesia. I lived and worked a little over two years on Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan (Borneo) in the mid-1980s to mid-1990s, but was clueless about diving there, or diving in general. The closest I got was snorkeling with broken & borrowed gear off a speck of an island off the coast of Lombok. Even then, I felt like Jacques Cousteau when I looked at the undersea world for the very first time. I even began speaking to my friends in a thick french accent afterward, I was so buzzed by the experience.
Have a fantastic trip, and PLEASE share a photo or two when you return!
