It's probably 2-3 years old and was labeled Halcyon. There were no visible flaws prior to the failure.
It would have been OK if would have happened at depth. I could have gone to backup hanging around my neck, isolated, shut down right post, headed for 70fsw, and started my deco. It would have been significantly scarier, though. It's easy to think through the steps sitting here but it would have been much tougher at depth and not knowing what the hell was happening behind my head. That's where my buddy would have come in.
What this really did was make me reconsider some of the not-so-smart stuff I've done on single tanks before :-)
