Last June I started my new marine business. After a slow winter and having to rely on my old sign business to get by, things now have started to really pick up. Not only have I recieved many calls for small jobs, but just a few days ago I got a call from the federal government wanting me to do work for NOAA.
Turns out I landed a long term federal contract to repair and maintain NOAA's Cordell Banks NMS/ Gulf of the Farallones research vessel! I'll be doing everything from glass and gel work to aluminum/stainless fab, re-doing the decks, wiring, a whole list of other stuff, diving on it- cleaning the bottom, zincs, etc. All the usual stuff.
It's a really neat boat too. Twin Volvo diesels with Volvo penta outdrives. It's got a big rear deck with a big winch and an A frame on the stern used for lowering down the sumersibles off the back (shark cage). It also has a side crane for hoisting stuff into the boat (doubles). This boat is my baby to keep ship shape for a long time to come.

Pretty cool huh!
