Here are my pictures from last weeks Sea Divers trip to San Miguel Island, Oil Rig Grace, and Anacapa Island aboard the Peace.
Despite the dire weather predictions, we had wonderful conditions both days.
Each day I choose to make the first dive a scallop dive and get my limit for the day. The first dive was at Boomerang and I got 10 large buttons. The second day was at Grace and I got 10 good sized buttons.
All of the underwater pictures were taken with an Olympus 8080, in an Olympus PT-023 housing with two INON D-2000 strobes. Although some of the pictures turned out very well, I am not completely happy with the new set up. First the housing had a button sticking problem, and Olympus would not replace it, but choose to fix. The housing has a minor leak that causes fogging on second and third dives. I suspect it is the buttons leaking. I will need to see if Olympus will fix it or blow me off. I also find that the wide angle is not wide enough, and thus would require an accessory lens and port. The other problem I have is since the INON strobes are TTL slaves the battery only lasts 2-3 dives because the camera strobe must recharge every shot.
