There are no manta rays in California, however there are bat rays that get as large as 7 1/2 feet wing tip to wing tip.
Likewise there are no whale sharks in California, but there is an ocasional basking shark which is also very large.
I have seen bat rays many times while diving, however I have only seen one basking shark from a boat, and not very close.
No there are no increased signs of either marlin od sordfish. The are both endangered.
