53 min. dive time, 10-20 ft. vis, 50-53 water temp., 200-250 yrd swim, 37 fsw max depth, 4 divers in the water and 4 divers out.
We had a great dive this morning in Malibu. We swam to the kelp area and saw a shark (not sure what kind), several good size male and female sheephead, lots of sand bass, octopus, lobster, scallops, 4 kinds of nudis, healthy gorgonias, small jellyfish, rubber lips, kelp crab, sheep crab and many more. The reef and kelp forest looked very healthy. The fish including the sheepheads were not shy and the whole community seemed to follow us. We were deffinitely the guests here. Non of us have ever dove this area, so it was a very nice surprise to see such a healthy reef and kelp system. It was a great way to start the day. I would disclose the area but I'd hate to see the male sheepheads hunted since they look great when they develop that bump on their head.
Go diving, the swell, surf, surge and visibility was all good.
