I am not a drysuit diver (yet!) but it seems there could be regional differences here. In So Cal, most divers don't use a Farmer John/Jane, thereby using a little less lead for their wetsuit diving than Chuck's northern California dive buddies who need lots of lead to sink those thicker wetsuit configs. It seems his comment that his peers use less lead when they switch to drysuits probably is due to what they are switching from.
Most So Cal divers add at least a bit of lead when switching to drysuits, correct?? I've heard claims in the range of just a few to 10 lbs. when switching to dry.
I look forward to finding this out for myself. Brrr!
