The limits are super easy to memorize; the inner values and decompression tables take a little more effort, but can (and should) be mastered.
Even if diving with a computer, a diver should know and apply the tables and the limits.
My personal choice are the Navy tables, though the NAUI table is well laid out (I like its 'circular' flow). With the PADI tables you have to flip from front to back and I've found them to be more liberal. Turned off by The Wheel; I feel its too easy to make a mistake on.
