...take photographing people for instance. When in public you can only photograph public figures, such as politicians, movies stars, notorious criminals, etc. If you are a private citizen out in public, you can take someone to court for photographing you without your permission.
As for buildings, if some hollywood scout comes buy and takes a photo of your private residence without asking you first, you can take him to court. Public buildings, like public figures, do not have the same restrictions.
