I'm not an instructor, so I haven't "made" any
new divers. I do think that the weakest part of
American SCUBA is mentoring of new divers to give
them experience and hone their skills, without
giving them a bad experience, or tossing them in the
ocean with an equally inexperienced diver. When I
was starting out, a coworker, Tom Jacopi, let me
dive with him a bunch, and got me past the first
dozen dives. So I try to do my part. Given that
nobody (esp. Karl) has come up with any FACTUAL
response to what I post, I must be doing OK.

BTW, Karl got thrown off ScubaBoard again (third
or fourth time), this time as triton94949 (sp?).
