Been carrying the storm whistle on my BC for years, same clip as my octo's scum ball. Have used it underwater to get my buddy's attention (yes, it actually works underwater - good for about 20 feet or so). On the surface its really loud - not as loud as a Dive Alert, though. Even if you get the DA or the other one, I'd invest in this whistle and a good sausage...I carry mine clipped in my weight pocket to cut drag and always know where it is (plus I'd ditch my weights first anyway). Have a "dive" mirror, but question its usefullness as its small, so never carry it. A CD is much larger and cheaper.
