I used to go diving on a friends 16' lake boat...we used to soemtimes take it to Santa Barabara Island out of Marina del Rey. Mostly we did a dive off the Star of Scotland and a 2nd dive off the front of the SM breakwater.....now I refuse to do any beach diving or any shore diving like that.....if the visibility and underwater terrain are not good it isn't worth it to me.....

I often ended up with a nice 10lb halibut off either dive....

I remember my next door neighbors 37 years ago used to take their Boston Whaler out in the Santa Monica Bay and catch 10-20lb tuna....I remember seeing his boat full of them one day.....guys used to go out 100 miles out of SM bay and catch swordfish......now, thanks to the once again utter failure of the government, the Bay is a rotting stinkhole of pollution.
