I find this tragedy disturbing. This is my favorite shore dive in southern California. I have hiked this hill suited up before and nearly loss it. I then resorted to making a couple of trips lugging my gear. Then suiting up at the bottom. I was more worried that I would offend someone. If I suited up on the street. Although I rarely saw residents there. Saw a lot of garderners though.

Often tradegies will alter my scuba technique. How can I prevent this accident from happening to me? This is a freak accident. I do not know if this diver just slipped and had a short fall. Or if he did a tumble down a part of this gnarly hill.

I know my use of knives has changed over the years. I always hated the really big dive knives. I started with the leg mount, then waist mount. Now I use a BC hose mount and a BC upside down shoulder mount. I strive for easy access. I never thought of or worried about falling on a knife. Although I do see where. My former waist mount with a soft scabbard could be dangerous in a fall. The same rig that I used when I dove Christmas Tree cove last.
