I left the flash off the entire dive. I don't have strobes yet, so it was a challenge in the poor vis. When I use the internal flash, I get backscatter unless I'm very close to my subject. I was amazed that the shots today came out. I left the camera's settings at f2.7, manual focus, ISO 100, under-exposed a half step and had planned to set the white balance using my slate, but the surge made me decide to use auto white balance.
I'll play around with the settings more in my next few dives. I hope someday to be half as good as you.
