Well, it sounds like when you found it finally, it was very good.
I used to spend a lot of time at King Harbor more than 30 years ago. I used to fish (illegally in the inner harbor) for the bonita doing a turn through the inner harbor. We would go onto the docks and run if someone called out "Harbor Patrol...". You could let a blue and white lure out on about 12 inches of line from your fishing pole. You make figure 8s in the water with the tip of your pole and the bonita would explode out from under the docks. They would rip you hooks off the lures sometimes. If you used 5 pound line you had an epic battle using skill and endurance to beat a sea predator.
I've also traveled the length of the breakwall inside it, crawling between the rocks. I'd like to dive that one.
Some playground. I don't get down there much anymore. I used to love biking there along the beach from Santa Monica. I bet there is a lot of diving around there for one inclined to find it.
