At night bointa would swim in the area where the Pacifcs star berths. Back then Redondo sportfishing was there and used to go down onto the docks at night and catch bonita there in the lagoon.
I did a grat deal of fishing on the Manhattan Beach Peir, King Harbor, and Torrance Beach from 1967 through 1979.
I began fishing in Santa Monica in 1963. The first fish I ever caught was a yellowtail off of the end (now long gone) of the Santa Monica Peir.
The abundance of fish in the 1960's would probably not be beleived by thoose with only a recent experience.
It was growing up at at the beach and fishing for many years that got me interested in diving.
