The ferry only allows one tank. You can always rent tanks and a kayak in Avalon, but then it comes close to the cost of taking a dive boat. Most people that take the Catalina Express dive only in the underwater park at Casino Point. It's not a bad site. It's typical of most of what you can expect anywhere along the frontside of the island. The prices for the commercial dive boats have nearly doubled in the past decade, so if you want to make a variety of dive sites you may have to save for a special trip.
