I don't know.

The Pacific Coast Pleagic Invertebrates book by Wrobel and Mills says "Spends much time motionless or slowly pulsing the bell while drifting with tentacles extended 10-20 feet or more."

During the past couple of weeks I've seen ones with really long tentacles and ones that look like the jelly in your photo serries.
