When I got my LS4000, after waiting several weeks
because they were still back ordered, I grabbed a
slide off the light table and scanned it. It was
this nice blue water shot of dolphins. It came out
black and white. I spent a couple of hours pursuing
the settings related to black and white until I
realized that auto white balance was on, and it was
being auto balanced to 18% grey. Since the ONLY
color in the slide was blue, it all came out grey.
I turned off auto white balance and haven't looked
back. ;-)
Fool with manually selecting the focus point. I've
found that this is important to get the critical
parts of the slide perfectly focused because the
film doesn't lay all that flat.
