Complex question. I would recommend changing your sRGB profile to something more appropriate such as the Adobe RGB profile before calibrating your monitor. I could talk for days on this subject but I'm busy at work doing the very things we're talking about right now.
So many people are asking these types of questions on this board, I've thought about starting a color consulting business catering to underwater photogs.
