E-mailing the photoshop file would be better for you. You could duplicate the adjustment layer onto your original to get a good look at how it affects your ogininal and you can look at the adjustment.

I only did one small move to move the scan back toward a more natural color balance but you can see that the scan starts to look nicer right away. I used the curves but you could do it levels just the same because I used the eyedropper tools in the corner and they are the same thing in both levels and curves.

The trick would me to do this type of thing in the scanning software which will give you control over the scanning process.

I can zip the file if you want me to e-mail it but the photoshop file can't be posted and still retain the layers.
