Yes, I agree with Prof.Lyle - you don't see many photos of the lowly blacksmith that come out better than these. It looks like most of the shots were taken at a relatively long focal length, which yielded an interesting foreground shortening effect.

I also noticed some of the annoying electronic noise that shows up in digital photos taken at high effective "film speeds". I can't say enough good things about a piece of software that Aaron of legopacific.com uses and recommends. It's called NeatImage and does an amazing job cleaning up digital images - whether direct from digital, or scanned from film. I've included a link to the site where they sell Neat Image.
