Hi there, it's one of the sirens reporting in on the latest Help Travis event. Please forgive the cross posting, as you may read this information elsewhere, but we're really trying to get the word out for these events, which are all geared toward helping our friend Travis (son of Jocko) Robinson, who was badly injured in a swimming pool accident. If yesterday's activities are any gauge, the community efforts to get the word out are working: 7 of us lucky dive girls had a great time escorting our highest-bidding sailor and King for the Day, Don Robarge, on a four-hour tour for our Sailor and Sirens event - a great crowd turned out for the bon voyage and the welcome home. Some of the pix we can show from the Island Diver and the afterparty are posted here: home.earthlink.net/~raemer/sailor.html . Not just a generous guy, Don was also a great sport about things like having a lot of brightly colored flower decor everywhere, enduring the perplexed gazes of passing boats as we boogied all over the boat to our "special" soundtrack, and as the lone man, never, ever getting to use the changing area/head. Karen Ax, who headed up the event, reports a preliminary count of over $1100 raised yesterday to help Travis get better, with more donations still trickling in. www.helptravis.org
Our next fundraising event is June 25th at Malaga Cove, and we are going to have a GREAT time! Everyone's welcome - this is a family-oriented and fun event - so come to Malaga on June 25th to check out the BBQ, games, underwater poker, specialty classes, and scuba gear swap meet at the first-ever Help Travis - Inspire Hope Dive Festival!!!
