your diagram of the way the isthmas should be was great~ i remember many years ago, i was in my first skiff (16'). i actually tied up at the small dock on the backside of the isthmas and walked toward the front side of the isthmas. as i got to the point where i could see the water on the mainland side, my heart sank... i was looking at 25+ miles of billowing whitecaps. i went back to my skiff, rounded the west end and had one long, wet run home that afternoon....that moment on the isthmas was like being on the moon and looking back at the earth, you yearn to be there, but it is soooo far away...
Nice picture of the Kelp rockfish! very glad to know they are making a comeback (it's been 25 years since there was a healthy population there)
