ALBION -- Two Southern California abalone divers were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter Wednesday after their boat capsized in the ocean near here.

The Coast Guard said it received a report that a small fishing boat had capsized around 2 p.m. and that four people were in the water.

When the helicopter arrived in the area, two people were already rescued by Albion emergency personnel and other Coast Guard vessels.

The other two men were stranded on a remote beach.

The helicopter lowered rescue baskets 125 feet to the beach and the two men were then flown to Little River Airport to be treated by paramedics.
