Thanks in part to two very generous $1000 donations (one from Mike Emmerman & Pat Stockhausen and another from PADI, matching NAUI's previous $1000 donation), we have passed $12,000 and have $13,000 well within our sights.
As you probably know by now, the MHK Challenge is part of the overall Chamber Day fund-raising events. Chamber Day is an annual event designed to raise funds for the Catalina Hyperbaric Recompression Chamber. The three main components are Chamber Day (a day of diving at Catalina with a walking tour of the Chamber), Chamber Evening (a catered sit-down dinner at the fabulous Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific), and the MHK Challenge (where Michael Kane puts up $10,000 of his own money and challenges all of us to come up with an amount equal to or in excess of that).
No matter how you want to participate in Chamber Day, you can do so either by replying directly to this e-mail address (ChmaberDay@aol.com) or by calling Reef Seekers Dive Co. in Beverly Hills (310/652-4990), the coordinating store. We still have spaces available on boats, and individual seats (as well as some entire tables - 10 to a table) available for Chamber Evening.
Our goal is to sell out both events and we're already about halfway there, and we seem to be running ahead of last years' pace. So if you haven't made your boat reservations or dinner plans yet, it wouldn't hurt to give us a call. And, we ALWAYS happy to accept more for the MHK Challenge. So . . . WHO'S NEXT???
CONTRIBUTING SINCE OUR LAST POST (NAMES WITHOUT AN AMOUNT LISTED ARE $100):
