I sure hope the original post was an April Fools joke as was my answer! You never know! I am allowing my kids to certify at a young age (taking advantage of PADI's lower age limit for Jr.Scuba Diver). SIne they will be diving with the family anyway, it is good that they sit through the classes with a non-family member (although my wife or I will be present as an assistant in all phases of their formal training). I believe that this is the typical Jr diver -- kids of active divers being brought up under careful supervision of experienced parents. The original posting for equipment for a nine year old kid with non-diving parents sure is a recipe for disaster -- if not a joke.
