well, you asked for what our perceptions are, so here goes:

**basically, anything that needs more training higher
than a rescue cert (ie, more than ow/aow/rescue)

**includes needing to use something called trimix or
heliox (??)

**using more than one tank for one dive

**needing more lift than a 'normal rec' dive

**needing lift bags and spools

**diving in overhead environs

**diving deeper than 130ft (hence needing more tanks
for more air to be able to do more deco stops...)

...hmmmmm...i think that's about it from my perspective.

i guess i would indeed consider nitrox 'technical' for
me, but b/c of its popularity, i guess it's not as techie
as the other stuff i just mentioned above.
