Dear Divers,

I would like to take this opportunity to reply to Jennifer's posting on Rodale's Scuba Diving Electronic Bulletin Board. Dive Connections, Inc. has been running scuba day charters in California for ten years. And, we have had the pleasure to serve 1000's of divers each year during that time.

It is true that due to weather conditions, we turned back and issued rainchecks, passes with no expiration date, no restrictions, for any future charter --- the diver's choice. On this particular day, Jennifer and her friend, Ryan, accepted the passes and made reservations for our Sunday morning charter to the Coronado Islands (the next day).

Very late on Saturday afternoon, Jennifer's party called and canceled their trip "Because we do not want to have to get up early to find out its another bad day." Unfortunately, we were not able to fill their spots due to the lateness of their cancellation. Sunday, turned out to be a great day and we were able to provide a fun-filled day of diving for our customers.

Though our cancellation policy, states on the reservations section of our web site, "If you fail to show up for a trip and have not notified Dive Connections, Inc. at least 72 hours in advance, your credit card will be charged." Due to the circumstances of the weekend and the uncontrollable conditions provided by Mother Nature, we are still honoring the rainchecks issued to Jennifer and Ryan. They are still in possession of two boat passes good at anytime with no expiration date.

After reading Jennifer's posting, several long time customers have contacted us and offered to buy their passes because of the fine service that we provide. We have been in contact with Jennifer and Ryan, asking them to return their passes so our customers can re-purchase them. However, they have refused to do so.

Our offer to them still stands, they may use the rainchecks for any charter of their choice or return them to us for our long-time customers re-purchase.

Respectfully,
Barry Punshon and Jay Ferland
