sarah, i do not know of any dive shop that will
rent you the AIR that you need to go scuba diving
w/o first showing them what is commonly called a 'c-card'.

you can attain this 'c-card' by taking a course
that can run as short as a full week (w/private
instruction that can get pricey) or as long as 4
weekends in a row (taken w/other students and is
less pricey).

if you are interested in acquiring this 'c-card'
in order to dive on your upcoming trip, then
you better hop on it and take the course soon!

you can rent SNORKEL equipment for cheap, and you
may even get to rent all the other scuba related
gear, but i believe that no one will give you the
most integral part of the gear, which is the full
tank of air.

IF however you find a way to get hold of said equipment
and do end up diving uncertified OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL,
please do the entire dive community a humungous favor
and please inform your family members/next of kin/friends/
distant relatives/co-workers/beneficiaries of your estate
NOT!!! to sue in the event that you--God forbid!!--
do indeed expire while participating in said activity.

please, do not take this as a type of scare tactic
(b/c i really don't care what you freely do on your
own time), but i am being very serious in requesting
that you make sure no one sues on your behalf if YOU
CHOOSE to do something that can potentially kill you
w/o the proper and necessary training for it.

thanx!! and have fun on your trip in any event.

= : )

kelphead.
