I just pulled this horrible story off the the LA Times website. Evidently, 7 Mexican commercial fishing vessels decended on a marine preserve south of Cabo in a coordinated effort to poach the waters there. Besides killing tons of marine life as useless "by-catch", they also hacked off the fins of still living sharks to sell in Asia. (shark fin soup can go for as high as $30 a bowl in Japan). There have been no arrests or actions taken so far by the Mexican government.
