You might want to check out the Sand Eaters. They schedule a beach dive somewhere along the So Cal coast every Sunday morning and send out an e-mail notice.
It's not a dive club because there's no meetings (other than the dives), no dues, no officers etc. You just show up and dive when you feel like it.
