I won't venture to say whether it's dangerous or not, but I will say that I know of only one beach break in California that is as nasty, that's across the bay at GreyHound Rock. Then again, I've never heard of a beach that had as many rescues of people in the surf zone. I've only rescued one person there, but then again, I've only dove there twice. I dunno. Ask the folks from the local shop that got their 24 foot (I'm pretty sure about that size) inflatable flipped in the surf there. See what their opinion is. As for me, I approach entries there (in very moderate surf) more carefully than I do rock entrys, but I dunno, maybe it is a good spot for beginners anyway. Enjoy, seahunt
