Chris,

Looks to me (based on your map location with the red star) that you were diving the Flat Rock area. As you discovered, a really nice dive spot with generally good vis due to a relative lack of run-off but a bitch to access without a boat unless you really enjoy a climb back up a steep hill with full gear (in a wetsuit).

Malaga Cove (another fabulous dive spot)is up around the corner from Flat Rock in the extreme NW corner of PV. Malaga is where the coastline changes from a sandy beach to a rocky beach. Technically, Malaga is the first named PV dive spot (starting from the north) followed by Haggarty's, then Flat Rock.
